Inlay for cradles, east and west cranes

Heidrun and Gullfaks

Challenge

Undesirable event had arisen when material in the inlay on the cradles was of oak. Bits had become loosened by mechanical effects of the cranes. Bits had fallen down and could have created dangerous situations. The desire thus was to switch to another material in the inlay for the cradles.

Solution

We designed a proposal in 3D after having received a dimensioned sketch. The design was completely clarified here. The product was to fit in with crane cradles that were already in use. The drawings were approved, and we produced the inlays for the cradles in polyurethane. This will be a permanent good solution, since the polyurethane inlays were moulded in entire parts, and it will not break apart or be deformed by mechanical loads.
